Eyeshine is a four piece, “edge rock” band out of West Hills, California. Since 2006, Eyeshine has self-produced 3 albums and has continued to tour nationwide acquiring fans from all across the globe. Members include Johnny Yong Bosch, Maurice Salmin, Eddie Colmenares, and Crystal Mesina. We should probably add something really cool in this bio about “how promising we sound” but we’d be lying. Maybe you should just come check us out and let us know what you think. If we suck, please don’t throw tomatoes – we prefer a bag of Peanut M&M’s, Skittles or Money (unmarked bills please). One-Eyed Doll

Described as Strawberry Shortcake meets Gwar and Valentine’s Day meets Halloween with the visual impact of Japanese Anime, One-Eyed Doll is an award-winning Austin, Texas power rock trio with a loyal global fan base and extensive international press exposure. In 2010 and 2009 the group swept the SXSW Music Awards in categories such as Best New Band, Best Punk Band, Best Metal Band, Best Goth Band, Best Acoustic Guitarist, Best Producer, Best Drummer and Best Female Vocalist. The group has independently released three full-length albums, appears in Guitar World and Guitar Player magazines and has left several national tours in its wake including major anime conventions (DragonCon, AniMix, IKKiCON, Anime Overload, ShadoCon, etc.) Blazing the band’s wildfire buzz amongst their growing legions of religiously crazed fans is One-Eyed Doll’s cult leader: the impossible-not-to-love Kimberly Freeman, whose punishment is so sweet you’ll beg for more.

IKKiCON and FUNimation have teamed up with The Lair Theater to Present: Animayhem!

Have you ever wished that conventions would never stop? Well here’s your chance! Every month The Lair will be showing anime provided by FUNimation…FOR FREE!!!! Could it be any better? Yes! On top of showing new releases or crowd favorites, we’ll have raffles, music, door prizes, Cosplay contests, vendors, animunchies, local artists and so much more!

With a new year comes many new prospects for IKKiCON! We’re proud to unveil the new look of our website and forums, and we couldn’t wait to introduce you to our IKKiCON V mascot designed by the very talented Julia Lichty. Pay close attention to the guitar she’s holding; it may just be seen again at a later date!

We have so much awesome information to go over within the coming weeks, such as a number of new staff members you’ll get to meet shortly, our first round of guests announcements and a few other surprises. And don’t forget, pre-registration starts in March! Even better? You’ll get to pre-register in person at a number of events, such as All-Con, where we’ll have a raffle sponsored by Austin Browncoats for a pair of tickets to IKKiCON V and some awesome treats, like Pocky!

Ready for IKKiCON 5?

IKKiCON IV was an amazing experience for me. When I started 2009, I didn’t know I would end it being the Co-Vice Chairman of an awesome anime convention! In some ways, it was a crash course in running an anime convention, because this was my first time doing so. (I come from a background of sci-fi and gaming conventions.) In other ways, it was an effortless transition, because everyone instantly and warmly welcomed me into this amazing family. Regardless, IKKiCON IV will be a cherished memory I keep close for a very long time.

I want to thank everyone for making this convention such a success. Volunteers and staff who worked tirelessly to take care of every little detail, attendees who seemed to always be in the best of spirits, as well as game for anything (i.e. when I ran around at 8AM finding people to be on the news!), guests (industry, cosplay, musicians, artists) who were charming, entertaining and completely down-to-earth, exhibitors who continue to amaze me by their stamina alone! Running a booth at a convention can be so tiring, but all of our exhibitors (dealers and artists) seemed to smile all the way through the convention!

So, who is ready for IKKiCON 5? We’re working on our new mascot and getting ready for a completely new website, as well. It’s a brand new year, folks! We’re ready to change things up a bit and get everyone excited for IKKiCON 5. Keep sending us your comments, constructive criticism and accolades. You’re all helping us make IKKiCON 5 even more amazing than IKKiCON IV.

What a great New Year! It was a pleasure seeing all the new faces, as well as everyone returning from previous years! Thank you to all our guests, artist, dealers, volunteers, staff and everyone involved for all your support. Now that year 4 is over, we are already gearing up for IKKiCON[5] returning to the HILTON, AUSTIN December 31st, 2010 – January 2nd, 2011. New site layout and content coming soon!

Austin Downtown Street Closures Dec 31st

Beginning at 8AM on Thursday there will be street closures for the First Night Festival that will affect routes you may want to take to get to the IKKiCON hotel. In particular, Cesar Chavez will be closed the entire day.

At 5PM additional streets will be closed for the First Night Parade. Most importantly this includes a portions of 5th St and Congress. After 5 PM you’ll probably want to take Enfield/15th past Congress if coming from the west.
