Kristine Sa![]()
Kristine Sa is a multilingual singer/songwriter born in Vietnam and raised in Toronto, Canada. Her
career took off, under Indie label Nemesis Records, when her debut album, 'I Never Knew' [2002] was released, with sales reaching as far out as Taiwan, Australia, and the UK. She continued her legacy with her 2nd album, 'reBIRTH' [2004]. Following that, Kristine took on the challenge of singing in Japanese for a side project entitled 'AnimeToonz3: Kristine Sa (Lemon and Lime Editions)' [2005] released by Nemesis Records and Jellybean Recordings. She quickly became well-known in the American Anime community for her musical involvement in such shows as 'Suzuka', 'One Piece', and ‘Ouran High School’, as well as her concerts at countless Anime conventions in North America. In 2007, she released her 3rd album, 'Hopeless Romantic', working with NYC’s songwriter/producer Dave Liang (Warner Music’s Independent Label Group) and Japan’s J-pop producer Daisuke “Dice” Miyachi (producing credits include Ayumi Hamasaki, Boa, Koda Kumi). Most recently she's written and released the first single to her upcoming trilingual project called “My Last Goodbye”. To this day her cult following still grows rapidly as she continues to pave the way for a new and unique brand of Pop Rock.
The Slants![]()
It was early 2006, when Simon Young decided to leave his group, The Stivs, to start a synth-pop outfit. In essence, he wanted to create synthesizer-driven rock n' roll but with an Asian twist. Enter Gaijin, who answered one of Young's numerous calls for Asian musicians. Though he wasn't Asian himself, the two found a common love for The Faint, Depeche Mode, New Order, Joy Division, and of course, sushi. After some shuffling with the line up, The Slants were formed and began playing in mid-2007. Within three months of their first show, The Slants have already found themselves with international press (print, radio, and internet), requests to perform in four different continents, and have even played for a gathering of 3,000 fans. Also, within this time, they released their first record: Slanted Eyes, Slanted Hearts.
